Take a Virtual Visit to the Historic Haile Homestead

Candlelight visits to Gainesville’s Historic Haile Homestead are a beloved part of the holiday season—and this year, the festive fun is just a click away. Read on to learn more about how you and your family can pay a virtual visit to this beloved local institution for the holidays.

Homestead Holidays of the Past

If you're a Gainesville local or longtime visitor, you might have experienced the charm and historical intrigue of the Homestead Holidays, a fun opportunity to immerse yourself in 19th century style and holiday flair. Tours of the beautifully decorated space are limited this year, but you don't need to worry - you and your family can easily explore from the comfort of home, when Homestead Holidays of the Past are posted on the Homestead's YouTube Channel on Dec. 6! Order in some of your favorite Peach Valley Gainesville flavors and dig in from the comfort of home as you embark upon this immersive journey through the past.

The Homestead by Candlelight

Another fun way to virtually visit the Homestead is through Homestead by Candlelight, a real-time Facebook Live tour held on Dec. 11 at 8 p.m.! See the warm, gentle glow of candles lighting the way through this charming, historic home.

Our tips for virtual visits

With so many fun family events going virtual this year, you may find yourself searching for ways to make the experience just as memorable and magical as it is in-person. Here are a few of our top tips:

  • Make it an event! When you're on your computer or phone, it is easy to absentmindedly scroll as you watch a live event - but when you get the family involved, set a "premiere time" and pair the event with delicious goodies, you may find yourself connecting more with the show at hand.
  • After the online event, continue the fun by learning more with additional videos and connecting on social media.

We hope you and your family enjoy experiencing this one-of-a-kind local landmark, whether you stop by for a limited-capacity tour or explore from the comfort of home! Here’s to a very happy holiday season ahead.
